Everything Electric North

Students from Craft & Social enjoyed a fantastic visit to the Everything Electric North Show today at the Yorkshire Event Centre. The event showcased an impressive range of new electric cars, giving the group the chance to explore the latest models up close.
Everyone loved getting to sit inside some of the brand‑new releases from manufacturers such as MG, Geely, and BYD. Here’s Lyndsey trying out a striking yellow convertible — definitely a favourite moment of the day.
A big thank‑you to Jamie, our resident car expert, for organising the visit.

A visit to Bolton Castle.jpg

Bolton Castle

It was a bright and sunny day for the group’s trip to Bolton Castle in Wensleydale. Everyone was treated to a fantastic display of different breeds of owls, swooping gracefully above their heads, a real highlight of the visit.

The group then wandered through the aromatic herb garden and took a closer look at the castle’s vineyard. Sadly, there was no wine to sample, but the views more than made up for it.

Next came a delicious lunch at the Redmire Village Pub, followed by the perfect end to the day: a stop at the Brymor Ice Cream Parlour for a well‑earned scoop.

The whole group agreed it had been a truly fabulous day out.

Walking group - Appletreewick

This week the walking group completed a 6.6‑mile route from Appletreewick via Skyholme. It was a glorious spring day, and although there was an initial climb, the reward was outstanding views across the Yorkshire Dales.
After finishing the walk, the group rounded off the afternoon with a well‑earned refreshing drink at the Craven Arms, enjoying a relaxed end to a brilliant outing.

Textile Group

Craft and Social’s new textiles course is all about getting hands‑on and having fun. Students learn the basics of hand stitching, build confidence using a sewing machine, and experiment with a mix of sewing skills, techniques, and patterns as they bring their creations to life. This month, the group are diving into the art of bag‑making. Here the group are measuring out the material ready for cutting.
