Last of the Summer Wine
Craft & Social students enjoyed a wonderfully nostalgic day out in Holmfirth, wandering between iconic filming spots from Last of the Summer Wine. They popped into Sid’s Café for a look at where the famous trio once plotted their mischief, then strolled up to Nora Batty’s house, for a glimpse of her wrinkled stockings. Celebrating 150 years of the Settle to Carlisle Railway
Marking its historic opening in 1876, the Settle to Carlisle line celebrated its 150th anniversary with a special offer, passengers could travel the entire route for just £1.50. As one of England’s most scenic and iconic railways, the line’s dramatic landscapes and beautifully preserved stations set the scene for a fabulous day to remember. The group travelled across the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct in glorious sunshine, enjoying views of the Yorkshire Dales before continuing on


Walking Group - Roundhay Park
On Thursday, the walking group explored Roundhay Park. They covered a 6 1/5 mile path that featured stunning views of the lake, ponds, and follies. During their walk, the group encountered a swan on its nest. While it was wonderful to witness nature up close, it was also disheartening to see a plastic bag under its wing. This serves as a clear reminder of the importance of taking our litter home with us.
